The US Navy had lost 4 of it`s aircraft carriers and only had the SARATOGA based
in Noumea. On the "HOTLINE"A request for help was made for the lend of a
carrier,so HMS Victorious was picked for the job.Our name was changed to USS
ROBIN to fool the Japanese and we became part of the Battle Group Task Force 14
after a very extensive refit in Norfolk Navy Yard. This gave the Yanks time to
get the new carriers built and ready for service.but,I`ve yet to see or hear
them acknowledge our help in any of their media or films. We still flew the
White Ensign with British pay as usual the only improvement for the crew was an
iced COCA COLA Machine in the Canteen Flat.
