My Dad in Navy uniform

On one occasion Dad had to report to his ship for Escort Duty to Merchant Ships across the Atlantic. Unfortunately due to difficulties with travelling from home he was late for the ferry to take him out to his ship some 2 miles at sea. He searched for a boat to take him out but the only one he could find was a young boy with a dinghy. As Dad did not know which was his ship amongst the convoy so the boy had to row to each ship in turn until he was so exhausted Dad had to take over (it was also very foggy which did not help matters) Eventually Dad found his ship - they took the boy and his dinghy aboad then transferred him to the pilot ship when they set sail. Again Dad was in bad books. (His ship was on the Clyde near Glasgow)
