It was a long while ago and the Post Office
organised training camps for its Home Guard members. Some places were allocated to similar organisations Home Guard units and ours was the L.N.E.R..
It was a tented camp and men came from all over the country. We instucted in "battle drill" and there was an assault course.
Guard was mounted every night on the big house, that was at the end of a long driveway. We all had a great time having
given up a weeks holiday. The Post Office
also organised training at a street fighting
site in London near Great Portland Steet
