At the time of the Rockets, my classroom (in Woodford County High School) had no glass left in any of the 5 large French windows. A fairly translucent plastic film was used instead. By the winter it was in tatters and we had to sit huddled in the dry half of the room on wet days. Outdoor coats were worn all the time and at regular intervals, we were commanded to "Stand; running on the spot, begin!" - just to keep warmish. When rockets fell, I could see the smoke rising and never knew if my home would be there when I cycled home after school.
