In the early Nineteen Forties when I was 15 (Fifteen) was working for my Father in the Family Baker's business,as I was not allowed to evacuate with the other children from my School. Was delivering bread.rolls, cakes etc.on a Three Wheeler box carrier cycle, when suddenly a German aircraft came zooming from the direction of Norwich, back out to sea and Germany, which happened quite often without warning, being on the coastline. It then dropped a couple of bombs before flying out to sea.As I heard these bombs, which turned out to be "500 Pounders",got off the saddle of my "Trike"and scrambled under the Box part of Trike, presumably for safe keeping.Amazing the things we do when frightened.Certainly did not think what good it was going to do there. The Bombs landed at the end of the road I was on(Uppercliff Road,Gorleston on sea)and blew the Fronts off Two houses there. What a horrible smell there was.One of the houses had a light bulb on the cord still hanging there, very eerie.
Fortunately no one was hurt.Just me being very scared. And how!!
