My Nana lived in Port Talbot and she didn鈥檛 get evacuated. When the war stared she was 15. At the time she was in mountain School in Port Talbot. She lived with her brother Eric and Eric鈥檚 wife Floss. My Nana first found out about the war on the wireless. Arthur who was my nana鈥檚 brother was in the Navy. They had a letter saying that Arthur had died. One week after they had another letter saying that Arthur was saved. In Port Talbot there was a few raids. Houses and nearby coastal towns were bombed. The only game they used to play was cards and darts. They had coupons for foot and clothes they had no chocolate and the windows had to be blacked out. They had a box to carry their gas masks everywhere. My nana had 4 or 5 friends that were killed. And my nana worked in a tin factory.
