I used to work in Royal Arsenal Co-operative Society during the Blitz and this was in Peckham and part of my duties was going out picking up and getting paid for orders delivered. I was on my round and I was coming down a hill in Waller Road, New Cross when I noticed a little girl knocking on a door to go in. Suddenly an aircraft screamed down and dropped a bomb. I was thrown off my bike down into the basement of a house. The house across the road where I saw the little girl standing was completely demolished. I got a scratch on the leg and I think that she had been killed.
