Title: Anti U boat escort

As D Day approached I was attached to an escort ship and it was possible to see the build up of preparations happening.
A week before D Day we went to Dartmouth in Devon where we picked up American Officers, they stayed on our ship and eventually we sailed escorting tugs towing barges and equipment and arrived at Omaha beach the day after D Day. Our mission was to deliver 鈥渂each clearing equipment鈥 during which time the Germans were still pounding the beach with their long range guns. Fortunately we were not hit.

We then headed towards Cherbough were we escorted various ships back to the UK ready for the next run to deliver more equipment. After these missions we went back to our escort duties in the Atlantic.
