Everyone ahd to queue for everything. We'd join a queue no matter what it was for - sometimes we'd queue without knowing what we were actually queueing for!
One day a lady called Mrs barrows joined a queue in Burslem near to Nile Street - turned out to be the clocking on queue for Royal Doulton!
One day my mother queued for fish for our dinner. She queued for ages and got a lovley piece of cod. She cme home exhausted and popped her bag down on the floor while she put the kettle on. When she went back and picked the bag up, she thought "Oooh! that's heavy!. The cat was in the bag and had eaten our tea!!
