I was a child in WW2 and I remember standing in the front garden of my house and watching a long line of bombers going towards London following the railway line. They were being followed by Spitfires who were firing at them. My Mum was trying to get us all into the house to avoid the flying bullets and then when she got us inside, my Grandad insisted on standing at the window watching the spectacle!
