Contrary to news reels , the first vessels in an invasion are thr minesweepera, which is done as quietly as possible !! At Oran H.M.S.Coriolanus was one of these , after which we then went to submarine patrol at the moy]uth of the bay . The next two days we were shelled from the French fort- with no hits ! Then a French destroyer appeared and had another go but was chased off by H.M.S. Brilliant and the sunk in grandstand view . The troopship here was S.S.Monarch of Bermuda
