Pre-War
I was in the Territorials before the 2nd World War. My father had been killed in the 1st World War. I was married to Isabella, known to me as ‘Bella’. I was the supervisor of the swimming pool in Brewery Lane and Bella worked with me before the war.
The War
As a reservist I was called up quite early to join the Norfolk Yeomanry. I became a sergeant instructor and trained soldiers to serve overseas. I was sent to Tewkesbury and spent most of the war there and did not go overseas myself.
