I recall the night of the Big Blitz in Belfast, as in the afternoon I bent down to pat a dog and the dog bit me in the lower lip, my Mammy took me to thge Matar Hospital, Crumlin Road, Belfast and then just applied a plaster with a dressing to the wound. When the Blitz started our family, Mammy, Daddy my and my sister and brother were under the table in the kitchen and the plaster fell off my mouth, and my Mammy had an awful time trying to stem the bleeding from my mouth. I remember the noise of the planes flying overhead, but as I did not really know what was happening I was not afraid of the noise, the only thing that bothered me was the dressing falling off my mouth.
