I was 6 when the war started and after the blitz (we had incendiaries dropped on our house at Milehouse Plymouth) we evacuated to Pentewan a little village just outside St Austell. the big beach was mined and the little beach was our playground.
One agternoon a German plane came in very low over the submarine net at the entrance to the harbour and machine gunned us. Not understanding the seriousness of the situation we all yelled and shook our fists at the dissapearing plane.
