My Gran was a Catholic and my mum was a Protestant 鈥 dad switched when it came to school 鈥 we had to go to a Catholic School. My mother hated the place. She must have had a terrific time. 鈥淩emember that you鈥檙e a Brummie and a Protestant!鈥 she would say. When we came back to go to school here we had Welsh accents and nobody could understand us. Also once dad was back, my brother had a hard time not being the head of the family.
