19th November 1943. The bombing lasted 13 hours. I was a young wife and my husband wqas away serving. Angelesey Street, Lozells School was the public shelter. We kept quiet, believing that if we were quiet, the enemy wouldn’t find us. I had to volunteer for ‘Fire’ Duty. We went round with a man (for safety) and had to walk the streets during the raid to make sure nobody was on the streets.
