Morrison Shelter Birth.
鈥淭his story was submitted to the People鈥檚 War Site by a volunteer, Anita Howard from the Essex Action Desk CSV on behalf of Mrs.Orrin and has been added to the site with her permission. She fully understands the site鈥檚 terms and conditions.鈥
The year was 1944. The war was on and we had a Morrison Shelter in our front room. My husband and I had two little girls and I was expecting any day. A mattress was put on top of the shelter and the mid-wife was called. When she arrived she got on to the shelter with me and a while later my third daughter was born. (She is now 61 years of age). Soon after she was born there was an Air Raid and we all had to get under the shelter until the all clear was sounded. This all happened on 19th March 1944.
