I was in Black watch for 14 years before the war.
When war broke out I was at Dover Castle.
I was in the 2nd Battalion.
I was injured three times. I was shot in the knee once after I finished training.
I did enjoy some of it.
I was 9 months in Crete.
It was the intelligence section but there were no maps.
We used to go round measuring. I learnt to speak a lot of Greek.
I was in Korea, Japan, Italy, Naples. I had a medal for Cassino.
I waited 60 years for my medal.
I was 7 and a half years without a break.
I was in Scotland when war ended.
There was an allotment up there and quite a big hut in the middle.
A party of girls working for a shoe factory and we'd meet them there.
I was there for VE day — a party and a half that was.
I have been back to Crete 5 times.
