I was 19 or 20 when World War 2 broke out. I have a son who is coming 60 and a daughter who is coming 64. I had an uncle in the war, he got killed by a sniper up in the trees. I had no curfew, but I had to be back by dusk. I did not like the bunkers they were small and dirty. I would stay in the bunkers for at least two nights. I thought the food was nice but I did not like the eggs. There are sometimes more than 10 people in the bunkers and there was sometimes less. My mum brought the food over with her. It was across the road in Templemore avenue. On D- Day night Isobel heard a lot of noise outside in the street. She got out of her bed and went to see what was happening and it was the bands and so we followed them into the City Hall and came home at 1:00 a.m.
