What can you tell me about rationing?
Well, you had a ration book with A,B,C and D coupons. I can't remember what A and B coupons were but C was for food and D was for clothing. Basically, things were limited so you could only get like an ounce of butter a week. You couldn't have bananas because they had to be imported and the ships were needed for other things.
A lot of people bought things off the "Black Market" as you got things much cheaper and a lot of things people traded. Most of the time, people went there for petrol and you could get a quarter of a pound of sweets which lasted about a month, cigarettes were a biggie too.

What sort of things did you eat?
Malt Extracts-cod liver oil- you used to drink it in the morning for a better stamina,
Taty Ash- potato and other things alll mixed together,
Dried Egg- you used this most as you could do practically anything with it,
Skimmed Milk.
You used to not waste anything and what was left you mixed.
To keep things fresh, you had marble shelves because we didn't have fridges, and you had a hole in the bottom of the garden with a tin bath in it to keep meat cool.
