Before the war started we had a holiday at the seaside as we always did and whilst at the seaside the lifeboat was called out and we heard the siren go off.

When the war started I was in the park with my older sister aged 8 and when we heard the siren we both said 'ooh fancy being able to hear that from the seaside'. Then my brother appeared on his bike and said 'come home come home it's the first air-raid warning'
