The Cliftonville Hotel, Hove: Kathleen鈥檚 Story
On the way home from school during an air raid we were going home through the raid as my mother was ill and knew that she would worry about us. As we approached Hove station to cross over, there was an ackack attack (an aerial dogfight) as there were anti aircraft guns on the Dewberry factory, which made the fight overhead.
Two very kind gentlemen from the nearby Cliftonville Hotel came out and took my sister Rita and I inside and put us under the billiard table for safety and I was more scared that the policeman would come and lock me up for being in the hotel under age.
