In Odder Lane, Sxilby near the River Till the Germans dropped bombs in Frank Goods field. It was thought at the time they were targeting both the old L & K fertiliser factory and thenearby pumping station because of their distinctive very tall chimneys.

Our aircraft took chase and the bomb dropping German plane was shot down near Scampton.

You always knew the German planes by the different engine noise.
