On the night of the blitz, my two brothers were out in different parts of Sheffield.
My father drove a tram - they were stopped owing to bombing. He sheltered in the cellars of a large pub in the centre of Sheffield, which was called Marples.
He decided to stop and look and walked across the road and the pub was hit. All in it were killed. I was at home with my two sisters and my boyfriend.
My sister asked my boyfriend to go across the yard to the toilet with her. They returned to the house - her hair was standing on end because a mine had dropped close by.
In the house, all the soot came down the chimney.
