Garden Party
Pat Lacey was 4 and half years old when world war two
broke out. While She was at Boldmere infancy junior
school she had to have her lessons in the shelters.
The Second World War was a cold war to start
off with because people were worried of the bombing,
and Germany was bombing other countries instead of
Britain.
She descibed to me how her mother was in the WVS also
known as the Womens voluntary service. These helped in sorting out
clothes for the army etc. and helped in all cases of emergencys.
The WVS wore a green uniforme with their badge on their beret.
Pat described to me what sort of meals could be made from the
rationing foods which was interesting to listen to. There was a
utility sign which was on all the bed lining and clothes. This sign
meant that people could buy it with the rationing booklets.
When the war was over pat had a party to celebrate the end of the
war, here we have a picture of the party.
