The Royal Observer Corps decided to put a look out point on the top of Ibbotsan's roof which was flat. The took a garden shed up there and a telescope. All they had in the shed was a phone and a kettle!

They were a bit worried that the shed would fly off in the wind so they tied it down with rope and sandbags.

I used to go and watch them and they would get me to watch the sky with my 'young eyes'. By doing this I learned a lot about what plane was what.
