Husband Stranded in India!
I met my future husband in 1935 when I was 17 and he was 19 we were studying at Moulton Institute of Agriculture in Northamptonshire. A while after leaving Moulton he decided to change direction and train as a policeman at Henley Police College in London and in 1936. Only one week after his 21st birthday he joined the Indian Police and left for India. He eventually became District Commissioner of the Central Provinces. He was due to return home after three years but unfortunately war broke out and all leave was cancelled.
He finally came back in 1944, we married and he returned to India. Our daughter Penny was born in 1945 and I was planning to travel with her to India to meet my new husband however finally the war ended and he returned home. He became a War Agriculture Officer — his area was directed from Thrapston in Northamptonshire.
