During our air force training we were taken to throw hand grenades. As your turn came to throw the grenade you stood up and pulled the pin with one hand holding the clip and bought your arm up and over your shoulder. You then pulled the pin out completely and flung the grenade as far forward as you possibly could, having in mind that this grenade explodes in 5 seconds once the pin was fully out.
The chap next to me pulled out the grenade pin and dropped it behind him. The NCO grabbed it and flung it forward with only 5 seconds to go before it exploded.
I was in India with the 48th Dakota Squadron. We were flying to another base but ran into a tropical storm. Our pilot managed to fly round the storm but it was a very rough ride. Unfortunately 2 of our planes got caught up in the centre of the storm and were torn apart.
