Charles, my Grandfather, was a tram driver during WW2. He remembered seeing a horrific site when a local cemetery received a direct hit. He said that there were bodily remains in the trees and hanging from the tram lines. He also remembered standing at bus stop one day and feeling perplexed as to why everyone was running - he looked up to see a German plane flying overhead and firing down the street. Needless to say he made a quick exit!
