10 'Strait' Dollar note

Back to Singapore

Albert Fleming

Singapore

We were withdrawn to Calcutta to be the Headquarters Communications ship for the recapture of Singapore. We set forth early in August, from Trincomalee and were recalled with the fall of the Atom Bomb. We set off again at the end of August to retake Singapore with the new C.C.M. (copy of the Enigma), press correspondents from Reuters and the News of the World, the Rear Admiral J.A.V. Morse and the new currency, the ‘Straits Dollar’.
