This story was submitted to the People鈥檚 War site by Anastasia Travers a volunteer with WM CSV Actiondesk on behalf of Douglas Brown and has been added to the site with her permission. Douglas Brown fully understands the sites terms and conditions.

I was stationed on the Isle of Wight in the army. I was on guard duty. A friend had just finished his guard duty and asked me to hold his gun. He wanted to go to the toilet. He actually threw his long jones over the cliff and they were still hanging there (off a branch) the next day, waving in the wind.
