1. Worked every friday night with my mam, had a large area covered as a savings group. We sold up to 50 or 60 pounds worth of savings stamps every friday in the colliery village.

2. With my friends ( a gang of lads) we too saved pots and pans, papers and any old scrap we could get hold of.

3. the same gang used to organize little parades in our local streets, idea being to collect money for the war effort.

the above three items usually went in conjunction with helping to pay for a spitfire!

4. the caption was "Dig for Victory" to help this I, with my fathers help, dug up the cement in the back yard in order to make a garden.
