I was staying with me grandfather in 39 Standen Road, Southfields, Wandsworth. My father was in the navy. We were in the only house that still had gas. The rest had electric. It was 1938.
I had a pedal car made of metal but I gave it to my sister. Me granddad gave it to me. I used to pedal up and down the street with it. It always used to be painted green. Smashing pedal car it was.
We only had V1s then so it wasn鈥檛 so bad.
