Geoff with four of his colleagues, taken somewhere in France, during a well earned rest.

This story was submitted to the People鈥檚 War web site by a volunteer on behalf of Geoff Peasgood and has been added to the site with his permission. He fully understands the site鈥檚 terms and conditions.

Having been mobilized with his TA unit, 4th Bn Dorsetshire Regiment, he served with them up until his transfer to the US Army just before D Day. He served at SHAPE and went over to Cherbourg but his boat was sunk and he eventually landed at St Vaast(which is now twinned with Bridport, Dorset.
