I was in the RAF in 2001 Wing B Squadron. We were taken to the railway station to hear an important message that was to be relayed on the radio. It turned out that it was Winston Churchill telling us that the war was over and that we could "stand down" for the rest of the day.

Our flight lieutenant Newton told us to "get back to work" yet the war was over!

No rest for the wicked
