My Dad was a RAP warden — he couldn’t go in the forces as he was short sighted. He used to check there were no lights showing — if there was there was a bang at the door and he used to tell them to get the blackouts ups. It was so important that the Germans didn’t find out were we was. I think my Dad was relived to stay at home with his children — many of his friends were killed
