Much of the war seemed to pass us by. But I do remember that we had a land girl come and live with us. She came from Nottingham. She got taken from her job on Friday and they put her to work on Monday. They put her on milk duty so she had to milk the cows. It was so funny because she had barely seen a cow before let alone milk one but she got the hang of it in the end.
