Mum was left a widow at thirty three
Brought up my brothers my sister and me
I want to show my appreciation
For a woman with guts and determination
Often depressed and at the end or her tether
No woman worked harder to keep her family together
She must have reached the depths of despair
No handouts, no help, no partner there
We often went without, electric, gas, clothes and bread
Her priority was to keep a roof over our head
Every day she had money to juggle
her life was one big uphill struggle
Thats why it hurts me today
Seeing our kids throwing money away
We took you for granted, wish we'd known
You dont undestand till you're fully grown
No demonstrative hugging and kissing, and i say this with pride
You gave us your love from deep down inside
I want to praise you without being sloppy
As a mother i'd love to have been your carbon copy
