Nora's father was called up for Military service in the Royal Artillery when she was seven years old. This is a copy of letter he was able to post to her during his time abroad
My Dear Nora,
Just a few lines to say your Daddy is keeping well and going on alright. Hope you are well and had your holidays. Did you have a nice time and were you able to go to Auntie Alice鈥檚? Hope your mother is alright and well and Grandma and Agnes and you are being a good girl. Please remember me to Auntie next door and Grandma Bates. I am now looking after a monkey for someone I suspect you would like one. Pleased you are going on alright at school, what class are you in now? Tell Grandma I am thinking of you all. May God bless you and keep you safe.
With Best love, I remain your loving Daddy
xxxxxxxxxx
