It was a night of continuous bombing and we wondered with every whistle if it would be our last! However, it came to an end eventually and the next morning when my friend came to call for me to go to work at the jewellers shop where we were employed, there was an awful smell of burning everywhere and the shop, Kemp Brothers, was no longer there, so we had to look for other work!I found annother job in office work until I went to work as a telephonist in the Leeds exchange.
