When I was at home in London we always had big family Christmases. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, there were decorations, food, parties. I was evacuated to Penryn near Cornwall, of course I missed my family very much, but I was happy with my billet parents, Victor and Mabel Smith. Once Christmas arrived there were no decorations; I didn鈥檛 think Christmas was going to happen! When I was in bed on Christmas eve there were still no decorations- but I knew father Christmas was going to come, after all I鈥檇 written my letter to him! When I got up on Christmas morning the house was transformed. While everyone else was at church I lay in bed playing with my presents, and best of all, reading my new books! On Christmas day the front room was used, the only day in the year. After Christmas lunch we opened presents, and presents from my family arrived in a big suitcase. It was very special using the front room, and all the decorations came down again after I鈥檇 gone to bed on Boxing Day.
