From that ward I was sent to another, where the staff were nicer and they were very worried about me, and were surprised that I hadn't got a temperature as my baby wouldn't feed. I went through a lot of pain and developed a temperature eventually. I was told I was feeding my baby properly.

My husband visited me twice - you couldn't travel easily during the blackout. This was two days after war broke out but everyone was in the same boat so I didn't feel sorry for myself.

I eventually took my baby home by train but at home I had the same problem feeding her. She was losing weight and the clinic wasn't open due to the war, so I had to manage with help from my elder sister-in-law. My baby Janet was put on the bottle eventually and after six months had regained her weight.
