FRIEND(belgium) OF MY FATHER CYRIL BROOKS (Ted)
My father was CYRIL RUPERT BROOKS (ted) of Witney, oxfordshire. DOB=1914. My father served in Europe in WW2-Holland (Hoogerheide area),Belgium and France? I inbelieve 1945/1946.
I am aware that my father became close to a lady in Belgium (photo)I believe. I realize that this often happened at that the time and I have no problem with this.I would dearly like to trace this pretty lady and... if possible friends of my father's.
My father was in the Army, but, I am unsure of regiment etc (maybe connected to CARABINIERS HAMPSHIRE? ). I have a picture of some chaps stood in front of a guardroom sign which reads '323 Battery Holland'. I think it was Hoogerheide?
My father was a tall, willowey man, dark brown hair of good, placid nature and quite a good looker...but then I would say that!
He was born in Witney,Oxfordshire. He lived all his life in Oxfordshire until he died.
I would appreciate anyone getting in touch who knew him.
If I am unsuccessful in my serach reference my father's friends etc, please could anyone direct me to a site where I may be able to trace his service records or a Belgium(english writing) where I may attempt to trace the lady concerned.
I would be most grateful for any assistance at all.I hope to submit photos of my father at a later date.
