My name is Lorraine Cox, and my Father, Robert Butroy fought in the WW2, and his father fought in WW1, so I鈥檓 here at the VE Day celebrations to remember him and uncles, and other young people who have fought in wars since then.

I鈥檝e been asked whether my father talked about the war, and the answer to that is no really, but what he always, always said was that he had gone to war to fight for peace and for the country, and for Europe in general. He did that, he did his bit, and it was for us that the peace had to be kept, and it was up to my generation, and other generations to ensure that peace was kept at all costs.
