Lower RH corner is north end (dead-end) of Second Avenue.
Major road system (blue) is M6 Motorway at Junction 14. In 1944, Crab Lane was a cart-track that ran between Stone Road and Eccelshall Road. The area north of the end of Second Avenue was open farmland and mixed woodland.
Flight path was SE-NW. Is sketched from visual memory and comments recorded in witness and police statements. Crash occurred between Creswell Home Farm and the Round Spinney, now close to a roundabout on Mustang Drive, the name of which commemorates the accident.
The attached map accompanies 'The Heroic Story of Captain Perin Parts 1-3' (by Stanley Jones) and shows the flight path of the Captains Mustang as described in Stanley Jones' account.
