I was in the ATS attached to the REME (Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers) in Crawley, Sussex. I had 5 sisters, we all lived in Anstey and we all joined the ATS! The local paper wrote an article about us. I served with my sister Milly as an instrument mechanic. It was really interesting work. I loved it.

One day I was in the workshop when I heard an unusual noise. I went outside and looked up and saw an unusual black plane and knew it wasn鈥檛 one of ours. It turned, came down and exploded. It was one of the first V2 bombs that fell on Britain. Only 2 had fallen at that time.
