I was 5 years old living in North Kensington London with my Mother, Father and two sisters and two brothers. I was the youngest girl. Our family consisted of 12 algether, but the eldest were married and had families before I was born. I remember going into the anderston shelter when the raids started. How the sirens terefied me. One sister was looking for the dog and the other was worried about the cat. My Mum just wanted to make sure all of us were accounted for. I do not remember how long each raid lasted, but I remember we went into the shelters a lot. Luckily every time we came out the buildings were still standing. When the bombing became really bad my Mum sent me to Stirling in Scotland where I lived with my eldest sister Jean and family for nine months until my Mum and the rest of the family arrived. What a long long nine months that was. My brother Adam who later joined the Royal Navy went back to our old street one time when he was on leave, unfortunately there was nothing left of it. I often wonder what happened to Tony, who was a few years older than me. His Dad had a restaurant somewhere, I cannot remember where and we used to go and get an icecream. When I came to Scotland, Adam and Jackie were evacuated to Western-super-mare to a farm.
