The war must have left many deeply rooted impressions on young minds. My mother was only aged 3 at the time of the Clydebank Blitz but has a clear memory of spending one particular night in an Anderson Shelter in their back garden. It was around the time of the Clydebank Blitz.
As she put it - there was a collosal "bang" at one point and the whole shelter shook. Her younger brother started cring and they were surprised to discover the house still standing in the morning.
