It was during the war. We didn't have a proper shelter so my father built something for us in the cellar.
On Christmas Eve our house was raised to the ground with us under neath it.
In the morning we emerged from the cellar. My mother was upset as it was my birthday on Christmans day and they had bought me a dolls pram.
The pram however had been blown out of the house by the force of the explosion and had landed in the garden.
My mother said," look! there's your birthday present!"
I ran over to the pram and next to the pram was a real, live baby.
The house behind ours had also been blown up, killing the parents of the baby.
The baby had been blown out of the house and landed in the soft soil of our garden.
I put the baby in the pram and rushed over to my mum to thank her for the pram and the new baby.
