We had a big heavy black out curtain I used to draw pictures in chalk on it of teachers on the curtain and a picture of an Indian chief. It鈥檚 all very vivid still.
I feel privileged to have been through it. I鈥檝e always wished I could have joined up, I always wanted to. When I was 10 I was at my aunties house, a woman came round, she asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up, I said 鈥淚鈥檓 going to join up and help win the war鈥 鈥 I had no idea it would be over by then, it never occurred to me as I鈥檇 grown up with it.
